Executive Director
$107,800.20 - $137,500.00 annually

The Ministry of Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation provides a leadership role to the Province of British Columbia in its reconciliation efforts with Indigenous Peoples. As the provincial government transforms relationships with Indigenous peoples to recognize inherent rights such as self-determination and the Public Service implements the 10 Draft Principles (Principle 8: promoting a mutually supportive climate for economic partnership and resource development), the Executive Director is required to advance an inclusive provincial economy, and economic development and capacity building strategies for Indigenous peoples in BC.

The Executive Director will lead and support strategy, process and policy development to help drive economic growth and opportunity in Indigenous communities and with Indigenous peoples. The position does this by working with Indigenous, business, government, and community partners to proactively identify and pursue economic opportunities; building and maintaining senior relationships with all orders of government, industry and stakeholders; and leading collaborative nation-to-nation initiatives.

Qualifications for this role include:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Social or Economic Policy or related discipline (Masters’ Degree preferred) and 3+ years directly related experience; or an equivalent combination of education (e.g. diploma) and/or training plus 5+ years directly related experience, which includes but is not limited to:
o working effectively, respectfully and knowledgeably with governments, communities and/or organizations towards mutually beneficial outcomes.
o demonstrated multi-party engagement and negotiations success with Indigenous Peoples/organizations, related to advancing economic development projects.
o leading and participating in multi-disciplinary and diverse groups in the development and implementation of complex projects with cultural intelligence.
o project management experience, leading inter-ministry teams and complex projects.
o assessing multi-stakeholder perspectives and priorities to develop strategic plans and related activities.
o managing budgets and leading a team of professionals in a supervisory capacity.
• Minimum 3 years of experience leading, planning, and implementing business development projects.
• Minimum 2 years of experience as a key member and/or leading professional working groups and interacting with professional staff and executive.
• Minimum 2 years of experience establishing collaborative relationships with senior officials/leaders and in building lasting, effective relationships with Indigenous Peoples, peer groups, teams, all levels of government and external stakeholders.
• Working on federal/provincial working groups and with Indigenous organizations and communities.
• Managing contracts and/or funding arrangements.
